Angrezi Medium Trailer Review

Angrezi Medium Trailer Review

The trailer of English Medium by Irrfan Khan has just dropped and this is everything we have been waiting for. Apart from Irrfan, director Homi Adjania has played the brilliant roles of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Radhika Madan, Deepak Dobriyal, Dimple Kapadia, Ranveer Shorey, and Pankaj Tripathi, and has a rhythmic story that catches you instantly. The trailer begins with father Champak (Irrfan) walking up on stage with his daughter Tarika (Radhika) as she accepts an award. Stuck between trying to speak fluent English and sharing the happiness he feels after his daughter's win, Irrfan says, "I feel very emotional inside, very happy outside for my bitia. Bas itni angrezi aave humein." And that sets the tone of the film right there. Angrezi Medium's story follows the challenges Champak faces to raise this huge amount, and the funny circumstances he finds himself in the process. Though on the one hand, he battles Dheeraj (Deepak) for their ancestral business ' proprietary rights, both taking each other to court, on the other hand, we see them trying every trick in the book to make sure that Tarika can be sent to the college they want. That landed them in London, crossing paths with Naina (Kareena), Dimple, Ranvir, Pankaj, and others. Angrezi Medium is a tale of an obsession with moving abroad by the Indian middle class. And to make you touch and entertain, Adajania has done it with the right amount of laughter and empathy. Especially noteworthy is a scene where a Champak tongue-tied ends up referring to Naina as ' Marhaba ' instead of ' Mohotarma ' as it demonstrates the humorous simplicity of Champak.

Tarika aspires to be in London for research. Yet Champak is unable to let go of her. "Angrezo se azaadi milne mein 200 saal lage the, tu kamse kam 18 tak to intezaar karhi sakti hai," he tells Tarika that they will resonate with many middle-class households, instantly establishing the quirky father-daughter relationship they share. Even Tarika's aspirations are greater than the need for Champak to protect her, and now she is his ambition as well. He knows nothing, that the next challenge is going to be a far bigger one, one where he has to finance his international education and raise a total of Rs 1 crore.
